COMMUNION & BAPTISM

COMMUNION

Trinity Church holds four communion services each year to remember Jesus’ body broken for us and His blood shed for us. Through communion, we give thanks to Christ and reflect on our lives as His disciples. All those who have confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour are worthy to partake of the Lord’s Supper.

      • The first Sunday of Advent (Dec.)
      • Good Friday (Mar.)
      • Day of Pentecost (May)
      • World Communion Day (Oct.)

BAPTISM

Baptism is a gift from God and an initiation into God’s household. In baptism, we are united with Christ in his death and resurrection. In Christ, we are cleansed, forgiven, healed, and reborn. The signs of death and life represented in the water of baptism are to be remembered and celebrated with thanksgiving until, at the time of our own death, the promises are fully realized, and we enter life beyond death.

It is the session’s duty to ensure that all persons requesting baptism and the parents requesting baptism for their children have been well instructed in the meaning of baptism and its consequences for the rest of life.

At Trinity Church, we celebrate baptisms one week before each communion service. If you would like to be baptized, please register with the minister. Rev. Henna Kim will lead a training session to prepare your heart and spirit for baptism.

CONFIRMATION (“Re-affirmation of the Baptismal Vows”)

Confirmation is a holy ceremony in which we reaffirm the baptismal vows we made when we were baptized. If you were baptized as infants or children, it was your parents who initially accepted the vows on your behalf.  However, when you reach the appropriate age, the Confirmation ceremony allows you to make a public profession of faith before God and God’s people and affirms your personal commitment to live by faith in Jesus.

Therefore, Confirmation is about deepening our union with Christ and strengthening our bonds with the Church, the Body of Christ. Neither Baptism nor Confirmation guarantees our salvation; rather, a committed faith and life as a Christian are more important than any ritual. Nevertheless, we celebrate these rituals to follow Jesus’ great commandment to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

At Trinity Church, the “Confirmation” services are held one week before each communion service. If you would like to make a public profession of faith before the community of worship and God, please register with the minister. Rev. Henna will lead a training session to prepare your heart and spirit for the “Confirmation”
